"The Irishman" is a new 2019 American full feature film that is mostly in the English language and it is a really long movie at pretty much exactly 3.5 hours, so duration-wise basically two films together with each of them running 1 hour 45 minutes. But of course, it is just one film. Still I think it could have worked as a miniseries too. This film is based on a book and the adaptation is by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List. The big star behind the camera, however, is the incomparable Martin Scorsese. I read people say this could be his final movie, but I really hope it is not. Not that he would not deserve retirement with all the greatness he has come up with in his career. This film here adds a new chapter to that. I am actually surprised to read that before teaming up with Netflix they struggled to find a production company here. I mean come on Scorsese and De Niro working on a mobster movie? Could it ever have gone wrong? Admittedly Pacino and Pesci (who celebrated some of his biggest successes, including his Oscar win, in Scorsese / De Niro films) probably weren't confirmed yet back then. So I would say it went right and looking at how this made it to the imdb top250 already immediately, others seem to agree. I must still say this is too much and I would not call it a great film really, even if there are occasional great moments. I will get to these later. But then again, my opinion is probably not too representative when it comes to Scorsese because the films that are considered his very best are not among my favorites from him and instead I prefer for example Hugo, Shutter Island or also the film about old Japan he made not too long ago (with Driver, Garfield and Neeson.
Now as for this one here, I already mentioned the three key actors with De Niro being at the center of it all from beginning to end at different stages of his character's life. Pay attention to his bright blue eyes here. The two big supporting players do not have that much time together on the screen. Basically early on, it is Pesci mostly. Then Pacino steps into the picture and really takes over and Pesci is gone for a long time until he reappears in the film's final third. And at the end, Pacino is gone and it is again only Pesci until the very end, when it's all about De Niro. I must say these very final scenes in the last half hour were also when De Niro mostly shines. He was not that great or memorable before that really. I would even go so far to say that Pacino stole the spotlight from him a bit. And he was a real scene stealer. This of course also has to do with the material. Frequently he just has much more to work with. The scene when they meet the guy who is late and not properly dressed is the best example. Pure Oscar bait for Pacino. Admittedly, he really also makes the most of this. But I am not surprised that the way it seems now De Niro is not getting the Oscar nomination this year, but Pacino and Pesci are. Actually, from what I saw here I would really love to see Pacino win a second, but at this point it seems highly unlikely because Pesci seems to be getting more momentum and both will have a hard time beating Brad Pitt, also because they will probably steal some votes from each other. Not that I'd mind Pitt winning at all. As for Pesci, the nomination is enough. But not undeserving. I think he pretty much showed a flawless performance here and also nailed all the more subtle moments, but as good as Pacino he is not or I would say his character did not offer as much. Speaking of awards, of course Scorsese must be mentioned too. Can he win Best Director this year? With his actors going against Pitt, he could be going mostly against Tarantino who directed Pitt. I am not sure, a nomination seems safe and he is among the top3 contenders right now. I don't think this is among his best directorial efforts though, so even if I love the man it would be too much and it would be nicer if he finally gets his second directing Oscar for another film in the future. We will see.
Also I want to say a few words on specific scenes and characters here. First of all, it must be said of course that this is based on actual events and characters. The best example is how the protagonists perceive the Kennedy assassination, especially Pacino's with the American flag scene. And as almost always with Scorsese there is a great deal of bloodshed in here. It all leeds to the killing of Hoffa. Maybe you knew it would happen, maybe you didn't. But still seeing it happen at the hands of Sheeran was rough, even if it was just one quick glimpse, two bullets and he was dead. But consequences were grave. Media posted hourly updates about the search for Hoffa and for Sheeran himself, this also had very personal consequences, namely his daughter seeing what happened. I am not too sure if I liked it and it felt realistic that she realized it, but the "why. why what? moment was really tense. Oscar winner Anna Paquin plays the dauughter by the way. And with this scene alone, her character was probably more relevant or played a bigger role in this film than all the protagonists' wives who admittedly added very little except cigarette smoke. Also the scene very early on with the daughter and what happens after her dad finds out a guy pushed her in a store. She realizes how violent he can be and it is not only when he needs to protect his beloved ones. Another daughter makes a similar statement at the very end because when something happened they could not talk about it to their father because his reaction would be so over-the-top. But despite all the violence, bullets to the head etc. there are also scenes and moments that will make you laugh a little but, such as the lengthy fish scene at the end, or the gun graveyard earlier, Hoffa's sweet tooth when it comes to ice cream. And there is more really. In general, it is a film about many subjects, not just about crime, father-daughter relationships etc. but also for example about real honest friendship because Bobby's and Pesci's characters are friends for life really in here, even if they are also business associates. That's surely what you can call them. In addition, the music is always nice in Scorsese films and this is no exception. I personally found it pretty nice to see Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons in here, even if he did not have too much to work with this time. But it's kinda interesting how he is having a far better career than Aaron Paul and without the Oscar nomination maybe he'd even be vlose to Bryan Cranston. And for me personally, it was really amazing to see J.C. MacKenzie here, even if it is just one or two scenes, because I loved him since Dark Angel. These likes are personal taste for me. Maybe others will appreciate Huston, Lombardozzi or Cannavale, it's up to you. Overall I believe if you consider watching this one, you most likely have seen older Scorsese crime films, or mobster movies in general, so you don't really need me to give you a recommendation here. But if you do, it would not be a negative one, although I cannot be as enthusiastic about this film as I would like to be. Still, thumbs-up. go watch and you will find many interesting details that maybe I have not mentioned already like the very last camera last shot with the door open, just like Hoffa's was the first time the two met.

Bill is with Audra, his Wife. Mike talks about finally movie out of Derry at the end of the film. Henry Bowers is back and is real threat to the Loser's Club again.
I highly enjoyed this film. Yes, it has some weird/ackward parts and too much joking and comedy at times and it seems to drag a little here and there but it is also gory, creepy, scary, has great writing and dialogue, great character development, has great acting (Bill Hader steals the show) it's horrifying (I mean seeing a little girl get her head bitten off under the bleachers at a football game is horrifying enough) the Loser's Club all have great chemistry even though they're not together as much in this film. An overall great film/horror film. Well done.

I'm not trying to cry and moan, let me explain. The movie anchors it's entire entertainment value on CGI, the ignorance of children and the hopes that a rendition of the original would entice fans of the book. It's boring, unimaginative and frankly throws shortcoming after shortcoming to the real fans.
I love the cast and crew. but honestly, movie making has gone from psychological horror thrilled rides to a money dump towards CGI and the hopes an old script can carry a truly bad rendition. Not just the new IT and IT part two but most recent horror films. I can nearly fall asleep to this if it didn't play funky sounds to *try* to get under your skin. Bring back the passion of script writing and of real creative psychologically twisted horror. Not. BOO* hehe gotchya! CGI is a waste of money if you lack real vision.
The 4 stars go to the actors for trying.

The Dark Knight is the Die Hard (or Terminator) of the 2000's. It is truly one of the most iconic movies ever made and one of the best movies I have ever seen. Full of dark action and carried by the outstanding performance by the late Heath Ledger, it is an amazing feat.

This movie has every thing A super hero, a Badass smart villain, a great story & some good acting. Heath Ledger(joker) was awesome! his acting was really me he was the best villain in the whole batman series. Christian Bale(batman) is always good so no comments for him! BATMAN is one of the most famous characters in DC comics so people have high expectations from this i assure you this movie will never disappoint you. Joker is a villain with no super powers, no advance gadgets but his intelligence is his greatest movie shows the real potential of joker & what he can do or how he creates fear in the mind of the people of whole Gotham city with only his intelligence & craziness.
The only thing is that this movie is a little bore in the start. other wise this movie is very good & i would really love to watch it again & again.

After so many years have I seen such a movie which would make you give a standing ovation to the movie. There are at least 5 scenes in the movie, where anybody, would just say, wow. Everything is just too good about this movie. Each and every person associated with this movie deserves a praise. Needless to mention, Ledger and rhaps give it their best shot ever in this movie. I am just kind of scared whether they, ever would be able to repeat something like this. I have to admit something though. When I heard movie's soundtrack standalone, I was kind of disappointed that it was not that good as that of Batman Begins. But, now having seen the movie, I am glad that I was wrong.

Honestly I don't even know where to begin.

• There was almost no character development. They threw some Gamora stuff in there randomly so that you'd feel bad for Thanos, but that's just cheap crap that doesn't actually count as character development.

• There were no stakes and no reason to care about any of the characters, or even care who won. Is it wrong that I don't care that a bunch of the heroes just died at the end? I literally don't give a crap cuz this movie gives me no reason to.

• Thanos is completely non compelling. He's not interesting in any way, shape or form. He has no character, you don't know anything about him, have no reason to be scared of him or feel for him. li>

• Everything happened separately, and was unnecessarily complicated i.e. Thor and the foundry. li>

• This movie pays no respect to any of it's characters, especially long running and popular characters. Loki and Gamora are just killed straight up, no send off whatsoever. li>

• Thanos has spent years planning this one thing for what reason? He just came and got all the stones and killed half the universe in one day, so why'd he wait so long?

• This was a completely emotionless movie overrun with side quests of no importance or interest.

• There's literally nothing right about this movie, I literally can't even begin to go over everything it failed on.

This is literally the biggest disappointment in the entire MCU. I wish this was a gigantic late April fools joke, because this movie is a joke, and isn't worthy to be the culmination of 10 years of mostly fantastic movies.

2) I'm not a fan of the over used plot device of "I must kill my loved one to save the universe. It's just fake tension most of the time and because most of the main characters are wearing main character armor, they either don't get killed or revived anyway
3) the ending didn't wrap up any loose ends at all and isn't really dramatic anyway
4) I miss when Spider-Man was cool and not some lame dork iron man bossed around
5) the hulk just didn't want to participate in the movie for unknown reasons and he's also one of my favorites
6) I didn't like that the "good" guys just gave the bad guy the rock he wanted. twice
7) where was the "orange" black panther character as he was my favorite one ?
8) how did that one good guy with the rock in his head, vision, survive when his neurosurgery was incomplete ?
9) why did we keep saving that one girl, to just throw her off a cliff? And she was also one of my favorites
10) the dialogue was weak in the movie as a whole and most of the "comedic" moments weren't funny outside of Star-Lord, who was great by the way
11) the dialogue was weird between between Gamora and thanos. Why did she never understand how he felt about her ? That made the endingish scene weird because she didn't understand she was going to get thrown off the cliff until he grabbed her.

The director made some very interesting visual choices that - while very pretty - don't really do much except look pretty, for the most part, which is a shame, but I kinda miss movies like this one that are longer than 90 minutes and don't follow the standard boring formula beat for beat. I'm going to have to watch this a few more times to appreciate it fully (the ending is just a damp fart of a wtf and I still don't understand the point of the doctor's entire storyline except for padding and cheap heartstring tugging, which totally works) but I think this is going to wind up being one of my favorite films of this year (even though it came out last year lol.

Hace dos semanas que hemos acabado el Camino y solo hablamos de la Triologia del Baztan y cuando estamos con amigos, y nos preguntan. jugueteamos con no decirles el final. porque si se sabe, se pierde el interés. Lo que no se pierde jamas es el recuerdo y la ansiedad de volver a estas tierras vaskonavarras. Y no cuento mas. que cada persona saque sus conclusiones...

Vi por casualidad la promo en Netflix de Herencia en los Huesos, la cual me remitió a El guardián invisible, vi ambas y las amé, ahora a disfrutar del cierre de la trilogía muy bien contada. La mejor. Pais vasco, o cantabria o asturias. por ahi. Lei los tres libros y me primera pelicula esta correcta. he visto esta segunda parte y con ganas de ver la tercera en ha parecido mucho mejor narrativamente y el personaje de Amaia salazar tiene una gran mi autocritica tiene un 7 de 10. Hola buen video a mí me gustó mucho la película y la anterior también, solo me quedó una duda, de porqué le cortaban el brazo a las mujeres asesinadas. era solo por canibalismo? Los motivos de la madre de Amaia tampoco me quedaron tan claros, cómo porqué los bebés en sacrificio tenían que ser niñas y que lograban l buscaban con esos horribles sacrificios. Saludos.
